Mike.....I agree!!!!....but since he already has too many siblings, someone else will have to adopt this guy. Beautiful gun, though....I really like the buff engraved on the underside. These are very nice rifles at VERY reasonable $$ IMO.

Battered....I bought the 450-400 Demas shown on an earlier thread...just scroll down further in the topics and you'll see it. These rifles are extremely nice and VERY fairly priced. If my new double didn't already have 5 other "African" siblings, I'd be owning that gun. Probably would change my mind once I pulled the trigger, but if you're hunting elephant or buff, you wouldn't notice it. I'm waiting for Ken (Kebco) to let me know how his shoots.
These guns, IMO, are one of, if not thee best, deals out in double land.

Seems kind of light for 577. Love to try it out, but out of my price range.

I disagree. My Searcy .577 is 13 lbs, 6 oz and is as a pleasant rifle to shoot than any. Recoil is a big push rather than a sharp jab, like the .500 NE Merkel I used to have; that rifle was not pleasant to shoot.

Ditto's Paul,
That rifle does not sound light to me but spot on. Of all DR folk you would know. My 500 does not hurt me at 10lbs 6oz's I always therorized that a 577 three pounds heavier would be about the same kind of recoil, I may be wrong? Problem is it's not Lt. handed. Frowner

If it were Lt. handed and had a LOP of 15+ I would have to fondle the beast, at the quality to price comparison quite tempting.

Dan, I think you should buy it. If in the end you find you aren't shooting it as much as your .222 I will buy it from you, with the right terms of course. I think I could accept an obligation of $1.00 a day until one of us dies.

I know gerryb, shot with him almost every weekend. I am glad he finally bought a descent rifle. I have been very embarassed shooting with him at the range. His last elephant and buff where shot with a Spartan 45/70 Double I am sure. He most likely would have used a Ballistic Tip if the PH would let him. I will post pictures of his last elephant and Buffalo if he is not too ashamed of the small size. Heck I think they where both cows.

Congratulations Gerry, great rifle at a great price, can't wait to here about your range report, get well soon so you can get a big wiff of spent gun powder after the 577 roars.

i have shot a number of buff in Zim, Tanz and Zambia but i can say i have never seen a bigger buff anywhere on the hoof and actually since I got it back I have not seen a mounted one bigger, I have seen wider but bosses no. They are almost 19 inches just barely less
