If you would watch the Sullivan videos in the exact order they were filmed, I would be curious to hear your comments on how his
Technique on handing charges has progressed.

Take the "theatricts" out of it, just consider the charge [after it starts, not the why or how "theories"] but how he deals with it...

That's exactly what I'm doing. Watching in order, making a chart of the animals, who shot and how many times and in what order. If charges were provoked or not and if Mark had to shoot. While I like Mark as a gentleman and also a PH I am unbiased in this study and will question a couple of things but most of what I see I can find no fault in the man. The vast majority of charges the hunter shoots first and misses and then Mark ends it. When the client stops the charge Mark does not shoot.
My post will be a lengthy one as I want to go over all details and, hopefully, won't leave unanswered questions. I will complete number 8 today and to 9 and 10 early this week. I am not including the "Best of" DVDs as it would be repetitious. Also I want to do exactly as you mentioned: to follow Marks progress and see how his philosophy developed over time. I also do not have his last DVD but it is in the mail.
In closing, as I watch these films I shake my head at how all the accusations began and continued and they don't follow the facts as I see them in the films.
Should be interesting and will start the fireworks (again) but should put an end to the nonsense and untruths.

Cheers, and thanks for your comments.
Cal

Cal, I had a feeling that your watching the Sullivan films and recording the data in an unbiased way would counter most of the criticism as that is what I've seen as well. Hence my posts asking for whatever criticism of the man to keep accurate as most of what I hear from the MS bashers simply isn't backed up on video. Fact is, most of it is countered rather firmly!

But there will be no putting an end to the nonsense and untruths. Just wait. Anything you say positive will be blamed on the pain meds. I can see it now!

Get well soon!!

Are you talking about the BGRC Nationals in Darwin this year ?

If so, they are held in a different state each year with 2013 being Darwin's term again.

After two replacements my advice is get the staples out as soon as the doc says OK. They have a way of becoming part of you and it is difficult to say goodbye if you get my drift.
A pal just had his knee done and they used super glue. Nothing to remove.

Cal,

Great that you are doing this.

Do it for yourself, to gather empiric evidence and to support or refute your own opinions, to present facts for those who were considering his movies but have been wondering if they should or should not based on what has been written here.

For some, the anti MS opinion is more religion than fact-based. And you know it is nearly impossible to convince someone their religion is wrong regardless of the facts.

I'd agree with that.

I was surprised they used Staples but Cal
answered that before. I have a longer length scar on my knee and they used inside dissolveable stitching and that was 30 years ago, no ladders, no need for removal.

Re the Mark S videos. I have watched a few
and one of the only queries I had was where
a Lion was shot and it looked due to the reaction) very much like the Lion behind the first one was hit as well.

It was a few years ago now so was probably
one of the early DVD's.

Do you remember this ?

Cal,

I'd just like to say that I once had a knee injury in the field mind you, very similar but in true internet fashion, much worse than what was depicted here.

I continued the remainder of my 21 day hunt running 15 to 20 miles a day on the injured leg only. Hopping along at high speed.

So suck it up cupcake! Wink

PS

I'm not looking forward to having that done!! Speedy recovery we'll be looking forward to your next hunt report!
