I am not offended at all. True, I have zero experience with a VC so I guess I am indeed a "keyboard expert". However, I have been to the web site many times and have seen most of the pictures that have been posted on this site. I doubt you have much experience with a Blaser S2 but that didn't stop you from roundly condemning them every chance you got, right?

Todd, your VCs are great guns. My opinion is just that, my opinion. I just think they are overpriced when I can buy a Chapuis built to specs like the one I linked in my post above. Take a look at it. If you think that a VC is in the same class as a Heym or that a Merkel is in the same class as a Krieghoff, that's your opinion too. They are all good guns but when I buy a double, I am looking for value and I think a Chapuis or a K-gun provide the value I am looking for. However, I agree that the VCs provide more opportunities for customization but again, at increasing costs.

I don't know how to post pictures but I will try and post some pictures of my lovely .375 flanged Chapuis "Jungle". It is a magnificent gun and it was only $12,500 fully engraved with side plates and it is ridiculously accurate, at least in my sons hands..LOLOL

I am going to do my best next year to get down to DSC in January. Maybe you can show me the VC magic. The action in the post above is beautiful. I suspect it is Doc's. But again, we are off topic and I do not want to hijack the thread.

Dave, I have not fired the S-2, but I have seen them in the flesh, and handled them quite a bit. I know of the strength of the action and the ability to adjust the POI due to the fact that each barrel is not soldered to the other.

I also understand very well that auto safe cocking device which for a non-dangerous game rifle would be just fine. However, for DG, I prefer to go into battle with a weapon designed appropriately for the task. For that reason alone, I don't consider it to be a true DG DR.

My impression of the S-2's fit and finish is "unimpressive". I'm also not intrigued with the way the top of the breech end of the barrels "overhang", severely interrupting the method I've become proficient with when performing reloads.

Personally, I place the Sabatti and Blaser in the same category. The Merkel, Chapuis, and Kreighoff in the category as the true entry level rifles. You can also put the Searcy field grade in that category, but I do believe Butch's guns are a bit better than that. I'd place the VC, Searcy Classic and Heym in the same category in terms of quality and finish, although the Heym will cost you significantly more for an equally finished gun. Those are my opinions and for some reason, the prices that these guns sell for seem to support that same line of thinking.
