Mike, here's what I've found works in my double. I am using .411 Hornday SP 300 gr. using essentially the same load of RL 15 as 400's, with 3 grains of dacron. This is Tony's 75% rule. My rifle is regulating at 63 grains in the 300's, 64 grains for 400's. It chronied at 2150 at Monty's range. This is essentially a duplicate of a 405 Winchester. My other plinker load uses xmp 5744 powder. I am getting good groups at 35 grains, no filler, with either a 300 gr Hornday flatpoint or hardcast lead. I flip up the 200 yd sight, and it prints right on the money at 50 yds. It chronies at about 1500 fps. It can leave some unburned powder in the barrel, so I swipe frequently. Has anybody used the 300 grain Hornady's on game? I read a Boddington story of shooting an Australian buffalo with the Spire Point out of a 405 Ruger #1, and it seemed to work well. Bob

Yep, 300 grain Hawks with my 62 Grns of RL-15 plus foam filler shoots same POI as the 400 grain Woodleighs. Plinkers are great hog/deer loads. Rusty We Band of Brothers! Thanks Bob. These sound like fun to shoot and a helluva lot cheaper than the Woodleighs! Mike
