I suppose it depends on how many rounds are shot but... I have read that all that is required is to run a solvent soaked patch which is rather tight fitting through the barrel then a couple dry patches. Would that be enough without brushing? ALLEN W. I have come to love bore snakes. I used to bring my doubles home and clean the hell out of them with brushes, swabs, etc. Maybe I just got lazy but I started wondering if I was doing more harm than good cleaning them like that after every trip to the range. Now I just run a bore snake through each barrel a couple of times and call it good. Mike | |||

It all depends on how much copper fowling you have. Heavy copper fowling can affect the grouping. I now use Gunslick Foaming Bore Cleaner. Two treatments and all copper fowling is removed. It sure beats any of the liquid copper solvents. 465H&H | |||

I like the stuff also you can pick it up at WalMarts here, the only problem with big bore doubles is the foam coming out the wrong end (breach end) which is fixed quickly by cutting a piece of foam that fits your chamber and poking the foaming spout through the middle of the foam, shove it into the chamber and fill the barrel till it comes out the muzzle end.
