Could someone explain to me what is a safe pressure not to exceed when reloading the Remington SPR-22 double rifles. Listed on the barrels is the following Not to Exceed 2200 BAR/ 31900 HST I have looked in most of the Obvious places and found no references. Before shooting this new 45-70 double rifle I need some guidance. The term doesn't appear in the Remington Owners Manual, but there is a warning label on the barrels. Thanks in advance.

A bar equals barometric pressure, which is 14 psi , so 2200 bar = 30800 psi. I used to see this unit of measure used for air tools, but havent seen it used much lately. ****************************************************************** SI VIS PACEM PARA BELLUM ***********

jb: I know about Atmospheric pressure from my Scuba Diving days but how does it relate to the pressures experienced in shooting. Everything in the gun world has been in CUPs and LUPs as not to exceed these values as it becomes dangerously close to blow-ups. As I said in my earlier post these are terms I am unfamilar with as for pressure and firearms. Thanks for the data.

I used to own a parker hale 1200 bolt action that was also marked in bar units.Maybe it is,or used to be a european standard for firearms. I would think as long as you dont try to hotrod your 45/70 you will be just fine. ****************************************************************** SI VIS PACEM PARA BELLUM ***********
