Had it out to the range for the third time Saturday and shot with NE450No2.

I've settled on the load. It shoots very well with 480gr Woodleigh softs, 87.5 grs of R-15, Kynoch wads and Fed 215 primers. I'm getting 2060fps out of the 26" barrels. It also shoots Hornady 350gr Roundnose to the same POI at 2120fps.

This is one of the reasons I've been looking for a nice 450, lot's of excellent inexpensive bullet options.

You guys just kill me. You drop 40K for a H&H and worry about one dollar bullets. Smiler

I hope the wife is buying that sales job!

Will

When you shoot a big double as much as we do, in short order we save enough for another double. thumb

I can say that is one good shooting H&H.

Just wait until you hear about how good his 9,3 Chapuis shoots. Wink

Will, I don't think it is as much the cost as it is availability of the bullets in just about any gun store,WHEN YOU NEED THEM! I absolutely hate haveing to order bullets! I have several double rifle that use .458 bullets, and there are not only tough bullets, but light, heavy, and fragle ones for plinking for stump shooting practice. I spend enough for .470, and 577 bullets in two yrs to pay the trophy fee for another Buffalo. One thing you must understand the guys who belong to the DRSS, shoot a lot of bullets down range every year, from two or three double rifles each! Most owners have one double rifle, and shoot it a few days before they leave for a safari, and maybe ten shots total on the safari. The rest of the year the rifle sits in the vault. That is not the case with Tony for sure, and I'd bet with the rest of the DRSS as well. we expend enough ammo, on paper targets, and wild hogs at one of our get togethers at the 4K ranch to pay for a seven day Cape Buffalo hunt. Wink

Now if you would buy me a couple hundred rounds of factory 500 gr .470NE factory ammo, it would cut down on the expenditures for stump shooting! thumb
