Well JB, you are right about the SOB part.
Astute? Naw, I just searched Karl Hauptman since I was not familiar with him. Seems to me just about any firearm out of Ferlach is likely a good one.
It's hard to imagine why the seller would not slug the bores considering how long this rifle has been on market.

Correct bullet placement, combined with the required depth of bullet penetration, results in an anchored animal...

FWIW the pin pattern is for a back action "Holland & Holland style" sidelock action. And a back action sidelock is the appropriate set up for a sidelock rifle, with less metal removed from the bar than a bar action sidelock.
A forearm would be easy to replace or have reshaped and refinished. The $'s are in the action and the barrels.
A question would be 475 No.2 Jeffery or Eley. Preferably Jeffery for the 500gr bullet rather than the 480 grainer for the Eley loading.

Mike, honestly I do not know, but the market for such rifles is at a minimum here in Norway. 99,99% of Norwegian hunters hunt with bolt action rifles and there is no double rifle society in Norway as far as I have been able to find out. It is like Jorge says; it is a unknown maker for most hunters and the ammo is also hard to get. I think it is just Kynoch making them even though it should not be any problem reloading this caliber.
In general double rifles are seldom used for big game hunting in Norway and that caliber is certainly not common. You will find some Merkel and Krieghoff doubles and almost 99% of them are 470 NE bought to be used on that once in a life time safari in Africa and then sold - if they can find a buyer.

I think JPK is right. Another clear giveaway is the cocking indicator.
