I finally got around to installling my chapuis pivet mount on my new 9.3x74r. It wasn't too bad but the front mount was a bit of a tough fit.

I went with a Zeiss conquest 2.5x8-32 scope. I was really impressed with my Zeiss conquest 3x9-40 on my hog hunt, especially in low light. Just before dark I couldn't see anything with my naked eyes but the could still see very well through the scope.

I can't wait to try her out.

I'm not sure, I think there is only one height.

I am sure you can get different sized rings for the Chapuis bases. I have 2 sets of rings for my Chapuis, a one inch set and a 30mm set.

If you look closely his scope just cleares the rear sight, both of my sets do likewise.

They are the perfect height for my UGEX.

Geoff

That is a great set up.

I think {well after using mine in USA Canada and Zimbabwe I KNOW] That a scoped 9,3 double is one of the best hunting rifles on the Planet.

Did you get the mounts rings from Chapuis, or did they come with the rifle? I need a set of mounts and rings for my double.

The Chapuis mounts are designed to replace sections of the rib that are pre cut.

You take the rib sections out and insert the Chapuis mounts.

I would take a look at Talleys or even the Leupold throw lever mount. I have had the Leupold lever mounts on other rifles and they worked good.

A "GOOD" gunsmith should be able to look at the rib on your gun and figure out what to do.

The If the rib is not level where the bases would go then you might have to shim one of the bases.

Your 45/70 is a nice enough gun and has enough recoil that it has to be done right.

I think the easiest way to be sure the front and rear rings are level is to use a one piece base.

You might have to shim it if the rib is not level.

The critical thing is to put the base in the right place on the rib, to have the proper ring spacing for the scope you are going to use in order to have the proper eye relief.

Also, I would want the mounts to be quick detachable and not block out the iron sights when the scope is taken off the rifle.

The mount is from Chapuis, I had Dale send them to me when I bought the rifle.
