I saw a post about this a week or so ago...looks like Craig has decided to sell his double. I see this comment on the description. "Craig had the rifle built on an action scaled for the .450-3 1/4" cartridge to keep the weight moderate because, in his view, too many modern doubles are either too heavy or too light".
Anyone know what action the gun was built on? I know the Cal Rigby guys use the Merkel action and it appears this particular rifle is built on a smaller action than what Merkel would use for its 470NE. Ideas?

We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, Which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a President, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!! Roscoe, that looks to be the same action used for the 140E 9.3X74R , which is the same action that my 470NE is built on. The firing pin holes in the face are exactly 1 inch apart on both. They are both built on the 20 ga size action just having lighter barrels on the 9.3X74R. The newer 9.3X74R rifles are made on the 28 ga size action but that,IMO, would be too small for the 450NE double! With light barrel configuration the 140 action would make a very trim 450NE rifle! My 9.3 weighs 8.3 pounds.

Cal Rigby used Merkel 47E actions on their boxlocks and reinforced them for doubles. That makes them a slimmer and lighter action than that of the big bore Merkels.

Apparently, it worked well. I'm not aware of any issues with their guns. They also used the Merkel 160E actions for their sidelock double rifles.
