Can anyone give me info on this make? I've looked up the 300 Sherwood and it seems pretty anemic, but it could be interesting. Thanks for your help.

C'mon guys!! 87 views and no responses? SOMEBODY has to have even a kernel of information. I've done an Internet search and found very little about these rifles, except that they were a small manufacturer from Belgium. What's a minimum value on a double rifle from a minor player in a obsolete caliber? $2k, 3k, 20k?? Even a guesstimate would help! I'm still trying to get info on wear, condition, etc. But I'm trying to decide whether this is even worth spending any time on at all. Any and all replies appreciated!

Fischer, it would help to have a picture or two of this rifle. Being from Belgium, it could be of high quality, or it could be junk. I've been dealing in double rifles for years, and I haven't a clue about this maker. This cartridge is considered a ROOK RIFLE cartridge. The 300 Sherwood cartridge is, as you say quite enemic, but would be a fun double for jump shooting rabbits. I wouldn't think, even if the rifle is of good quality, that the rifle would be worth more than $1500, to $2000, considering it's chambering. I haven't tried to make them, but parent brass my be hard to find,to form this. The bullet dia is .311, but I'd slugg the barrel to make sure. One thing you might do is, find something that is suitable for forming them from something else. re-chamber a small amount so a little larger case, that is readily available, could be used to make brass. Could be a fun project! ....Mac >>>===(x)===> MacD37, ...and DUGABOY1 DRSS Charter member "If I die today, I've had a life well spent, for I've been to see the Elephant, and smelled the smoke of Africa!"~ME 1982 Hands of Old Elmer Keith

Thanks, Mac I found this article on a restored Raick Freres 405 Winchester Double Rifle, but that's the only pic I can find. I've also found that CH4D makes dies for the 300 Sherwood, and unformed brass is available from Bertram. Bullet diameter is .300, so it looks like cast bullets would be in order, and sized smaller than .308. So, I've been able to find some information, but nothing that gives me a ballpark of what this thing is worth. I'll go on the assumption that it's pretty worthless, and deal accordingly. I'm looking at it as a project/fun gun, but want to make sure that I can get my money out of it once I tire of it. Having dies, brass etc. would probably help it's value. Thanks for your advice.

Thanks for the info, Husky. I ended up missing out on the rifle. Apparently the auction had bids all the way from England. It sold to a guy in the crowd for $3700, but add the buyer's premium and 15% sales tax (federal and provincial), and it worked out to about $4700. Oh, well. I managed to sooth my hurt feelings by picking up a CZ in 416 Rigby, with a 1.5-5 Zeiss scope and $500 in reloading components, for $1500 at a gun show this morning.

Fischer, don't feel too badly. I can't think of a more useless rifle than a double in .300 Sherwood.

V, I have to agree. It would've been a neat rifle for a fun gun, but I didn't like it $4700 worth!! It was a very clean gun, though. Some collector got a neat piece, if you're into that sort of thing.

once you get into the 4K range there are good rifles to be had that you will enjoy. Don't worry be happy If you own a gun and you are not a member of the NRA and other pro 2nd amendment organizations then YOU are part of the problem.
