Wow that is one of the most accurate engravings I have ever seen. Some of the old ones of tigers and other Indian animals or even the German ones were not very accurate at all.

The downside is it makes my funeral-grade 88PH put on a black armband.

That is one of the best engraving jobs I have ever seen. Very nice indeed! If I were younger I would love to have one exactly like that one.

I have always wanted to be able to afford to order five HEYM doubles with a game seen for each having one of animal of the big five, on the belly of each as the chambering went up from 375 FL mag Leopard, to 450-400 3" LION, to 450-NT Buffalo to 470NE Rhino, to 500NE Elephant.

Even if I could afford to order them today I wouldn't live long enough to see them finished!

I think you're onto something, Mac!

Believe it or not, this is the 3rd rifle in an identical set of 8 that the same client has on order.

Cal, I simply have no desire to own 600NT double. The 500NE is heavy enough to carry all day, and still be able to hit the sweet spot on an elephant, or buffalo, and still recover fast enough to re-load if needed.

……………………………………………………….I guess I'm just a puss but the 500NE enough for me to pack all day in 120 degree heat! Now if you want to go along and carry a 600NE for me I'll be glad to shoot an elephant with it.

Dang it Transvaal, you stole my question!!

Is that style what is considered bulino, or something else?

On a project as extensive as this, there are usually at least two or three engavers involved.

For example, one will specialize in animals, another in scroll, and yet another in inlays (gold, silver, etc...)

The style of buffalo shown here is a "deep-relief," with lots of material removed (relatively speaking) from the background to give the animal a raised or 3-d appearance.

The background itself has some Bulino elements to it. They help to paint a more comprehensive scene with small details.

Not sure if it really can get any better than that. The face on that Buff looks like he is questioning the notion of stomping something. Detail is second to none.

Beautifully done and I love the broader landscape view with acacia trees and grass and the gold inlay. I was shooting my VC .577 yesterday and it has a more close up buffalo view on its belly. It’s amazingly accurate thanks to the advice of Mac and others with a Dokter red dot to 100 yds and easy to shoot. Leaving in a couple of weeks and hoping for another two buffalo with it.
