This is an amazing looking rifle. Any idea when this was made (proofed 2001). Is it a recent manufacture or an old classic?

Incredible engraving.

the wording and engraving style shows me it's a new production. Hell of a piece of wood!

Not to be a snob, but the new guns like this are just too flashy and over the top on engraving and wood. It didn't sell FYI. I wonder who is making new Thomas Blands?

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Nice looking double , but with 24" barrels and under 10 lbs might be a bit of a hand full to shoot

Not a snob at all, Brett. The old rifles had a refined elegance. New rifles, it seems, have to one-up the next guy and the engraving is getting out of control. It seems to me, on the top end firearms and too ostentatious, and on the low end it's CNC machining, fluted barrels and brakes, and plastic stocks--no craftsmanship at all. For those of us who like old rifles (pre WWII) we are a dying breed.

My main complaint about that rifle... it's not in my gun safe.

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
