Found a price of $9,500 for a Merkel Safari (African scene engraving) in 500NE. I thought that was pretty good but was the price if only paying by check (add 3% if buying by CC - which I prefer)and then of course shipping charge to my dealer plus his cut (5% of price) and tax. Fair deal or are there better out there? There was one for sale here at a better price a little while ago. Do search. If you own a gun and you are not a member of the NRA and other pro 2nd amendment organizations then YOU are part of the problem. | |||

If your dealer charges 5% of the price to handle the transfer, find another dealer. That is a rip off! Most guys around hear charge a flat fee. IMHO even $30 is high. Peter. There are a couple 140-2 Merkels (NIB) in 500 for sale between 95 and 10500 on Gunsamerica and Gunbrokers, shop shgipping and definitely dealers my FFL guy charges $20 per transaction Shipping is high because of Insurance however registered mail is the cheapest and maybe the safest NRA Life Member, ILL Rifle Assoc Life Member, Navy | |||

I charge a flat fee of $25.00 here in Texas. I hear that some dealers get $50.00 or more in Califonia. IMHO they are screwing you if they are trying for a % of the sale price.
