Santa and UPS dropped off an early Christmas present!
Hornady Round Nose 400 Grain .410 caliber bullets

Several will make a trip to Corbins next week to make a .408 resizing die. My 450/400 is a .408 caliber!

Score Rusty! Are these available to the general public or do you know someone who works near the back door at Hornady?

Jim, unless Santa has switched to Axis Deer, none!

To tell ya the truth, I don't care if I never shoot another Whitetailed Deer. Axis has the taste going!

Are you 100% positive that your barrel is exactly .4080? Without naming names, others that were supposed to be .408 weren't even close. I have zero trust in 3.25s being what they are claimed to be. I've seen them all over the place but most were larger than claimed. If you go .408 you might be unnecessarily and excessively oversizing it. The further you size a bullet, the greater chance you have of screwing it up, not to mention greater stresses on your sizing equipment. Going down .001" (if that is all that is needed" is ten times better than going down .002". You have a good idea to get some cheap bullets but I'm just saying it will pay to double check.

Mike,
Thanks for your concern. My rifle shoots .408 bullets. The resizing die cost is nothing when it comes to my peace fo mind!

I've even been told by the guys at Hornady that the pressure difference of the .410 bullet in a .408 barrel isn't worth worrying about. I beleive what they tell me!
I'm resizing!

What kind of press is needed to use the Corbon sizing die?

I may need to buy a few of those from you and try them in my 450/400.
Also I wonder if the same die would work for the Hornady 300gr 405 Winchester bullets?

NFMike
Do you remember what my bbl measured from the slug I sent you?

I have always shot .408 bullets, 41 Mag pistol bullets [.410 diameter] when seated im my 3 1/4" cases would not chamber.

However the lead bullets I got from you chambered and shot very well in Nitro for Black loads.

My Lee classic handles the dies for Mark's 400/360 resizer. I'm sure the .408 will fit it as well. You are welcome to all the bullets you need.

Happy Thanksgiving !

Yes, which we're already using. The idea is a cheap bullet for pigs and such.
