Go to the post on the Demas V-C 577.....good stuff and a great price. Ken (Kebco) is the rep and he is a great gent to deal with. I have a Demas 450-400 and it is a great rifle.

Hey Will.....I think I need to get a pimpin' fee!

Is this fee based upon a pyramid scheme? So do I get a percentage of all the follow-on pimping fees?

BTW I would goose your 450/400 loads up to at least 2150 fps and if it still regulates it will give you better penetration than the ~2000 fps at which the factory rounds are apparently giving in 24" barrels.

I think it IS based upon the pyramid scheme and I'm at the bottom right now....figures. I don't think I'm going to have any luck going faster. The gun was regulated with Kynoch and my first trip to the range had them crossing and low at about 2100 fps....albeit very slightly. The H4831 loads are not liked by the rifle at all....shot about 3" low at 50 yds at the same velocity as the RL 15 loads. I got a 2.5" group with the RL 15, but need to tweak it a little. I think it's going to regulate at about 2050 or thereabouts.....we'll see.
This is the most finicky double I've owned, but I'll get her the right load and be happy everafter. Smiler

Gary,

Now I see how this works. Kebco makes up some new username/password and posts that he is looking for a new .XXX NE double, like the one he is selling. Is that considered being your own shill?

This gooses some other poster into buying it before is gets scarfed up by the new poster.

I still haven't received any pimping fee, have you? Big Grin

There is a Dumoulin double rifle in .600 NE for sale at FMR just north of Paris for 5.000 Euros. I have no idea of the condition. If you speak French the number is +33 1 49 42 91 81. I know it's not a .577, but I've been told bigger is better.

Ian, these are the kind of guys that read their e-mail once or twice per year. I doubt if their English is good enough to even answer an e-mail, if they have one they want to give out. Their web site is updated annually when they remember:

http://pagesperso-orange.fr/unique-fmr/accueil.htm

They are most probably the best precision rifle assemblers in the Paris area and where I go for most of my reloading components, but they are terrible at marketing, customer relations and other Anglo-Saxon notions. I offer my services to you if you need them.

I looked at and handled the double Dumoulin, which weighs a ton and had barrels so dirty I couldn't tell if there was any rifling. I know nothing about big doubles so this is probably normal.

By the way, I have a good friend in Dubai who is French and I could probably get him to help you out if you want to have someone make a call for you, with you at his side.

Will....no pimp fee yet...still waiting.

Vlam....have you checked Gunbroker, Guns International, etc? Also, call Ken (KEBCO) and see how long it would take to have one made....unless it's a "right now" sort of thing....which I can understand.

Hi Garby
Yes have tried them, found a few but I need something quite specific. Light weight to be exact. I have been in touch with Kebco. Just waiting for him to get back to me with some import details. Really just fishing for leads that may turn up something new and interesting in the double gun world
Not urgent. Will need it this time next year.
Thanks for your help

Hi Bearhunter
Thanks for helping out.
I have seen both of them. I am not interested in the Searcy, no time nor money for sending rifles back and forth. The second one is a Jim Lewis Custom. Not heard of him before but his build methods seem to be solid. I cant say I am rushing to pick this one up though as it is also a bit of a rough finish. Can anyone shed some light on Jim Lewis and any of the other rifles he may have made?
Thanks again for the help
Ian

Hi Jack
Have not picked as yet. Have been holding off for final word from two custom builders to see what their options will be. I am looking for the .577 ideally in a 12.5 lb rifle so its not a standard rifle. So far I have had the best response from Heym but will wait a bit longer before committing.

One problem that I may face is gettin the licensing done in time so I may try and get my Zambian concession sorted first and then have the rifle sent directly up there. Anyway, the .458 Lott is ready to go and the Hippo concession is still going to take a while, so if I get it sorted by June next year then it should be just about on time.

What are your thoughts on the two? The third competitor is the .500 nitro for its penetration, but with the type of hunting I want to offer the larger frontal dimensions are probably going to win.
Cheers
Ian
