(Dan) 500grains has a really nice 500 Hambrusch, that used to be owned by a gent here in SA.

George Hoffman (RIP) had a really nice Fanzoj 470. I had a OP to by the rifle a few years back, but did not. The length of pull was pretty short.

I have a friend that has an Outschar in a 458 win mag that has given him good service. he has taken it to Africa 2 times after buff with no problems. The look of it is a little too Euro for me though. (Sorry Doug if you read this)

I think that Ferlach/German guns are some of the best value out there on the double gun market.

Too bad Cabelas is asking the price for this gun. It handles great and I love the cailber!!! At 17K-20K I might own it!

Seems like eons now , bought a Borovnik .458 O/U on the cheap (divorce)
Great gun wish I had kept it (though not my preferred barrel arrangement or caliber in a DR)

I have shot Dans [500Grains] 500 Nitro double on 3 seperate, occasions, several months apart.

Does not matter if it was @35 yards or MY favorite elephant shooting distance 6 yards, it ALWAYS printed Right and Lefts touching.

It is one fine double for sure.

My PH last September in Tanzania used one; it was .577. He really enjoyed shooting it and it was very accurate when we were checking it one day.

For O/U config. I love them, specifically in 9.3x74R caliber
and smaller. Wonderfully elegant pieces of art they are.

I realy like mine (Sodia) although I havent used it in Africa yet.
So far mine has not failed me one time and I've had it for 13 years.
I think my favorite double rifles that are reasonably affordable by us common folks are the ones made in Ferlach. I viseted the town one day and stopped at several of the makers shops ( Hambrusch, Hauptmann, and a few others)The prices wern't that bad at the time but the doller has slipped a good bit since then I think that was in 96 about the same time I boght my Sodia.

Yes it is a 338 WM.

A slightly unusual calibre for a double.

However I have shot AKshooters 338 WM double and it is a VERY NICE RIFLE.

Handles sweet.
It shoots good too.

The 338 wm would be perfect for a black bear hunt - not to mention eland etc.

Into my heart on air that kills
From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.

Both very nice indeed. Todays world is shrinking and many bad things come with that. One of the good things is the way many gun makers and users are exposed to great craftmanship from other regions and incorperate it into there own.
I love the bollino engraving on the O/U .338. just a few years ago you would'nt have seen that in Ferlach or anywhere else outside Italy except for at the mints.
The 8x75 is also interesting and I like the extra set of barrels making it also a bergstutzen. That seems like my idea of an all around rifle that will do it all.
