New Shooting Range - WIP

As our business has grown over the past several years, we have continually looked at ways to reinvest in the business and improve our customers' buying experience.

Despite the July and August temperatures, we are fortunate to be in Dallas. With American Airlines headquartered here, it's easy to fly to DFW non-stop from practically anywhere. With just a week or two's notice, fares can be very reasonable.

As great as the shows are, they just don't allow the opportunity to shoot the rifles, get to know each other over lunch, look at a variety of rifles, options, etc... in an undistracted envorinment.

As such, our traffic of customers flying in to shoot rifles, do stock fittings, etc... has increased to the point that we've decided to rebuild our range.

15-minutes from our office in Dallas, we have a private shooting range where customers can shoot at any distance they like: from point-blank to 500 yards.

The photos below chronicle the new range development.

Here we are disposing of what's left of the old "shooting house."

General clean up of the woodline.

A dozer sure is handy, isn't it?

Building up the old 100-yard berm.

This should catch most anything we throw at it.

Building up the pad for the new shooting house (foreground)
New 100-yard berm (background)

Here is the 500-yard berm in progress. The river levee is only @ 20-yards behind this berm, so we're double-covered in that respect.

Meanwhile, we've just completed the form for the new concrete shooting benches.

This one is made to build two different sized benches.
1) with the vertical divider (near the middle), we'll pour a single bench using the left-side of the form.
2) remove the divider, and we can pour a double bench.

Here's the first single being poured.

And being pulled from the form.

Framing up the foundation, pouring the pad, installing the benches, etc... are all to follow shortly.

Thanks again to all of our current and future customers!

Y'all should whack, or vibrate that form with something when you pour concrete. Makes those ugly voids go away on the sides, and settles the mix for a stronger slab. Then trowel.

As the saying goes... you get what you pay for!

The two vibrators they had were broken when they poured this one. They'll fill in the voids, and the top of the bench will be covered with carpet. 1/2 rebar inside.

Subsequent pours will be vibrated.

JB, you would just trade it on a front-end loader.
