For a righty the lever is pushed out, away from the body. Does the Jones Patent Underlever also have a second opening position away from the body for a lefty? Or must the lever be pushed in towards the body?

I have eight or ten guns with the Jones underlever design. Cant recall ever having seen one for sale or display.
The pivot-point is basically a wedge, drawing the barrel into the action. They are not able to be reversed due to the lock-up system, so towards the body for you southpaws.
These guns are from a period when lefties were discouraged, and trained to overcome their "devilish" disability.

I have a Wm Richards 20b hammer gun with a Jones Screw Grip. I am right handed but shoot long guns left handed as my left eye is my master eye. I have never been bothered by which way the lever turns I just open it.
I will add that the Jones lever lets you open a hammer gun with hammers drawn, letting the shooter lower the hammers more safely with a open action.

There are many benefits to the Jones Under lever, and the above is one! The other is they are very quiet to reload when in close quarters with a wounded animal.
