I have been looking around, and it seems with the poor economy dealers are selling new Merkel 470's for dealer price-so they don't have their inventory tied up in hard to move doubles-maybe Cabela's will end up with all of them!. So, If I can buy a new 140-2 which I think is the one with game scenes engraved(love that) for $9.5K(maybe less), what is a reasonable price for a slightly used model??

The model with the game sceens is the Safari model 140-2.1 . The 140-2 is the standard Safari model! The 140-2.1 game sceens are a $1000.oo premium, over the standard 140-2 and is not very well done. ....Mac >>>===(x)===> MacD37, ...and DUGABOY1 DRSS Charter member "If I die today, I've had a life well spent, for I've been to see the Elephant, and smelled the smoke of Africa!"~ME 1982 Hands of Old Elmer Keith

On Guns Intl, Classic Arms has had one in 500 NE for quite some time at $8,995 unfired. Might take a lower offer...nice looking rifle. It is item 100079983.

Not sure I have the chops for the 500. I think it is actually lighter than the 470?
