I have a question for those of you that use shooting sticks with a double rifle do you rest the rifle on the stick or do you rest the back of your support hand on the sticks?

I put the back of my support hand on the sticks and hold the rifle like I am shooting offhand or off the bench, I tried putting the rifle on the sticks and it ate my checkering up.

EXACTLY With a hard kicker it can be rough on the hand/wrist. They will heal, checkering will not. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

You want to use the back of your support hand so your DR will hit like you were shooting offhand. You don't rest your forend on a sandbag if you fire off a bench for the same reason. The only thing to be in contact with the DR is you - your shoulder, hands, and fingers, whether off a bench or sticks. By the way, I made my sticks using an old swimming pool filter O-Ring instead of cutting up and tying bicycle innertube. It works fine. Use a double rifle. It just feels better. A leather glove helps here and with hot barrels too.
