That was my thought as well. And trying to trade off between the name and condition versus a BP double.

This is probably a late 1870s rifle and with sleeved barrels it is so non original I really question the value. I also question RIA at times. In their last catalog several rifles I saw were mis represented as to caliber and one was a rifle listed as a shotgun. They gave me estimates on two of my rifles that were so low I nearly fell off my chair (an 8-bore which as since sold and my 4-bore that is for sale now). When I was working on my bore rifle book I asked both RIA and James Julia for examples for the book. Julia sent many bore rifles that I included with pleasure. RIA sent 20+ rifle that included two bore rifles plus a good selection of bolt rifles and shotguns. I wonder at times who exactly does their work and how knowledgeable that person(s) is (are).
Beautiful early Purdey engraving, no doubt, but with sleeved barrels it is 1/2 to 1/3 of the listed value in my opinion.
Cheers and my two cents.
