Well guys it's been just on two years since I had a major C-spine surgery. I haven't shot anything bigger than a .375H&h in that time period. Then just days before I received my new PH model Searcy back in March. I tore my Biceps tendon loose from my Forearm. Two surgeries and nearly 3 months later I was FINALLY able to take my new Searcy to the range and shoot it. This is also the first time I've shot a heavy rifle in just on two years. The rifle is shooting REALLY well, I am happy with it. The first round was the top right hole. That was a dead on aim. The rifle is shooting just on top of the sights at 50 yards just as I like it. The next 5 rounds I was holding just under the center dot. As you can see the rifle is shooting very tight and about 1.5 to 1.75 inches apart left to right at 50 yards. This is with a load of 106 Gr of IMR 4831 behind a 500 gr Woodleigh SP. I was shooting from a seated position off of a camera tripod. If the operator is doing his part this double will shoot double clovers about an inch and a half apart. A little tap to the left on the rear sight and we are in the MONEY! You gotta love that with a new rifle!! My last Searcy was just as good in the accuracy department.

Fivebores, I had a South African "PH" tell me that one time after I smacked a blue wildebeest. I paid full a trophy fee for that blood trail.. And it was the first and last time that is ever going to happen. Ole Butch does build some serious accurate doubles.

Surestrike, Glad to hear that you are back in form. It's a bummer being out of commission. And congratulations on your new rifle, and especially how it is shooting. P.S. I was thinking about sending flowers, but didn't. Sorry, I couldn't resist. Congrats on your new good health and new double. ------------------------------- Will Stewart / Once you've been amongst them, there is no such thing as too much gun. --------------------------------------- and, God Bless John Wayne. Surestrike1 Glad to hear that you are back in form and able to enjoy shooting your new Searcy. Mine shoots the same as yours with 106 grains of IMR-4831 and puts the bullets on top of each other at 50 yards using 110 grains of H-4831. Perfect for head shots at eles at 25 yards or closer. 465H&H

SURESTRIKE i have to concur with your "never again" attitude about not shooting again. and i have to credit Craig (money can buy) Boddington for putting out an original thought: KEEP SHOOTING UNTIL THE ANIMAL GOES DOWN, YOU RUN OUT OF AMMO OR THE ANIMAL RUNS OUT OF SIGHT. say amen to that brothers and sisters, a m e n ! Congrats on your recovery and getting to finally use your new (old?) Searcy. Looks like you got a good one. If I could buy a double today it would be his PH grade 500. _______________________________

Yukon, It is a new rifle. I traded it for my old Searcy field grade. Unfortunately Butch no longer builds the PH model. I do believe that I got the last one ever produced.
