Sorry, after the new .45/70 on buffalo thread, I just couldn't resist.

Hey. Hey! HEY! Put that down, I was only kidding. Really, put the gun down. Honest, I was just kidding.

buckshot may not work on a buff very well but i don't think he'd appreciate eating a good brenneke slug .

Tomo, I'll let you try that, and I'll film the outcome, from a tree top! Maybe we could sell the film to the "JACKASS CLIPS" I'll deliver it, if you don't make it, don't worry!

Didn't Peter Capstick recommend a 20 gauge shotgun with #9's for lion?

But why would I want to shoot perfectly good grapes?

I stand before you humbled and contrite. Thank you, gentlemen, for gifting me with your wisdom.

Actually, if you take a look at Peter Beard's magnificent photographic book "The end of the Game", you can find a note of single-shot shotgun loaded with SSSG shot (9,1 mm buckshot?) being used on buffalo by one of his native trackers on a regular basis. And obviously with success, that is. Beard was attending a game control operation in the vast Lariak cattle estate in Kenya in the 60's and that's where it happened. He said that it would sometimes take three, five or even nine shots to down a buffalo, which I can easily believe Big Grin
