Remington Spartan in .30-06
Found one today at a local shop. I'm having it held. I plan to go back and put it on layaway tomorrow.

Anybody else have one of these?

Is this the SXS or the O/U? If it's the SXS I hope they have fixed the action springing that was expierienced by the Canadian guy.

Gentlemen: The spartan is indeed here. The initial caliber is 30/06, with the 45/70s due sometime after the first of the mew year. Have one due in next week, but it is sold> List is @ $995.00 You can go to the Gunsamerica site and type in spr22 to get a closeup look at the gun. Cheers!

Just put the spartan together, and at first look, it will be an acceptable rifle. The fit and finish are par for a russian made gun. The gun will no doubt need a scope as the stock needs more drop to be shot comfortably with iron sights. The rib is a floating affair, and regulation is accomplished via an adjustment in front of the forearm under thr barrels. Not a Searcy certainly, but I think it will give thousands of people an opportunity to enjoy side by side rifles. Cheers

Mine was $935 plus tax. The shop I got it at tends to be high in price. I would think these will be under $900 easy when maore are avialable.

Do a search on this rifle. The Canadian returned it for a refund IIRC. After firing it's sprung the frame with factory loads.

it's good to see the price on these keeps going up.

no one in their right mind ever believed you were going to get any kind of 45-70 double rifle for the $200 - $300 that kept the dreamers awake at night.

when the price reaches about $3,500 you'll be able to get a rifle that won't spring the frame.

We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, Which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a President, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!! Curious to find if the Spartan rifle purchased actually has Remington stamped on it?? Something less than 6 months ago was told by Remington factory that those double rifles showing up from time to time were not imported by Remington and none had ever been brought into the U.S. w/their name on it, but rather other importers name?? Perhaps things have changed, just curious. Reason Remington had not brought any in under their name was simply that the problems were serious enough that they did not want to risk law suit problems?? Does yours say Remington on it??

Back then Remington never imported anything except a few test guns. They failed, BTW. These new ones are indeed Remington imports, new and improved if one is to believe the press.

It does indeed say Remington on it. 221 or 331 is the model.
