Whether you like the Sabatti's or not they are creating new interest in double rifles and bringing new members to the DRSS

Competition is good. Perhaps Sabatti's construction and options will improve and maybe we can see other companies offering less expensive rifles in order to compete. Afterall, if Sabatti can do it, why can't the other guys?

It's all good and seems like a win win situation down the road. The more shooters, the more brass and bullets produced. easier to find components, etc.

Don't disagree.

But some companies won't want to go to Turkey / China et al just
to get the cost down, regardless of where the items are finished
or proofed.

That I see is the biggest problem, otherwise it would have
been done before Sabatti did it.

I agree and hope that we continue to see good value vs. cheap (as in inexpensive and poor quality) doubles enter the market. It will be argued that regardless of quality, these newcomers won't compare to the vintage and English doubles produced and those folk are probably correct on many levels. Same can be said of Scotch, cigars and cars. Not everyone can afford "best grade" of those items either yet people should be able to enjoy all just the same. We'll just have to pull a "Moe" when the stick their noses in the air. Wink

I agree, although I am trying my best not to become bitter and start bashing Sabatti... But I console myself in that, my bum rifle is the exception and not the rule. Most everybody that has them like them and think well of them.

I hope that one day they will chamber for the .577NE and the .600, at only 9-1/2 lbs, they would be only a little lighter CCMDoc's V.C. . jumping

Seriously though, I can't put it any better than Snowwolf did... so, what he said +1. Big Grin

You are a better man than I. I don't think I could have been so patient and generous of spirit, even during this Holiday season, if I had your experiences with my Sabattis.

9 1/2 pound 577NE or 600NE? Eeker

I might be crazy, but I'm no SAFARIKID! beer

Very kind of you to say, but I think anyone who finds himself in "situation" must either take it in stride Cool, burst into tears CRYBABY, or fall into a great rage Mad, ranting and raving all the time! nilly

Judging from (your) past posts I tend to think you would have taken it rather well. Smiler
I try to be paitent and all that, but actualy I am, well... nilly

And here was me thinking the only reason your V.C. weighed 13 lbs was they wouldn't make it any lighter! I thought you would jump at the chance for a 9 1/2 pound .600!!! animal

Regarding the main topic, I do think (hope) that Sabatti will work the problems out of their double rifles, and that they will continue to make "affordable" doubles. I don't think that they will set a trend of "affordable" double rifles from other makers, but I do hope that they will improve their product, and continue making them.

Certainly there are some things about the Sabattis that I do not like, but they are servicable entry level double rifles, and are priced at a point where more guys can learn that double rifles are not just expensive toys used only for very short range, but are truly hunting rifles without peer for use in North America, not just Africa! I may even buy one myself chambered for 450/400NE 3"!

What is lacking with the Sabatti at this point, is the lack of a warranty station licensed by Sabatti here in the USA. The importer is completely unconcerned and has taken zero steps to resolve any problems of record; they aren't even polite nor qualified to answer questions about these rifles. Cabela's is the exclusive seller in the USA and they are trying to stand behind the Sabatti, as they do with any products they sell, but they too do not have qualified people who can discuss the manufacture of these rifles. Contacting Sabatti in Italy via email has proven to be an exercise in futility; nobody answers from Sabatti. Somebody needs to step up. The lack of information is overwhelming.

Try getting on the phone and calling them. Can sometimes be the quickest way.

The other item I would like clarified is the test targets and whether they really are for "real" plus some more info on them - Gun Serial Number, Calibre, date, distance, ammo used, temp, etc etc etc.

Well, each target that comes with these Sabatti double rifles does have the serial number specific to that particular rifle, caliber, distance in meters, ammunition brand, and specific bullet type, bullet weight, and is "signed" or "initialed" by the "test shooter".

Check out Cabelas web site, and you can see what I am talking about. Smiler

I tend to think they are genuine, but I am not %100 sure...

Thanks.

The target pictures I saw didn't show the bottom bit, only where the rounds landed.

The pics that Cabelas took don't always show the info. Some do, most don't

If you like send me a PM and I'll email you a pic of my regulation target
