when people do things like resting this Heym .470 double across a concrete gargoyle such as in this Gunbroker ad? Wouldn't it make more sense to at least put a blanket or towel over the concrete? I know I wouldn't do this with my double.

Reading the ad scared me just a little. It's some woman selling her husbands rifle...

Absolutely! I wonder what he did to piss her off and why is she getting away with it? My better half knows better than to raid the gun safe. Big Grin

Maybe that's an image of her late husband? The little fellow has certainly kow-towed and doesn't look very happy.

I'm also not too sure about the whole in the concrete is about?

And what may I ask are "10 solid bottoms"?

I think it's quite funny, got a good laugh out of it. You can tell she has no attachments to it, might send her a note and see if the gargoyle can be thrown into the deal.

Folks,
The problem is not with this little old lady....she knows what you foolish folks have yet to figure out.

Everyone knows that gargoyles have been used for centuries to look out for your weapons.

Mine happens to be Left handed and prefers bolt actions over doubles.

We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, Which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a President, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!! If her reserve is anywhere near her buy it now price she will neve get it. In this economy there are too many doubles for sale in the 8 to 9K range.

Cane Rat,

It is only a Heym, not like it is something rare or special.

I would guess the "10 Solid bottoms" means 10 rounds of Solid ammo.

At the buy it now price that is a good deal.

I have a Heym PH in 470 N.E. It may be considered a "working gun" but no way it would get laid down on a concrete anything... It might see some thorn bush next to a big tusker or Cape Buffalo but a front yard Gargoyle?

I think I remember when his guy bought this in Reno....he lives somewhat close to me. Did not seem to really have a clue what he was buying. He said he was a Mason....The seller name on GB is "2brickie"....and yes if I remember correctly she seemed to wear the pants......

Mason as in Freemason? Hell, give the secret handshake and get a discount! It is now at $9500. Looks like our own JudgeG has bid on it.
