Trijicon, Nikon, Leupold and Weaver all make a Dangerous Game scope in addition to the Swarovski. I too like the rail system, but will probably go for the Trijicon or Weaver for my Mod 70 375H&H. It's a price thing with me.

Hello,

I should add that I have an old style 1" Trijicon on my Krieghoff with the 24mm objective, love the scope.
They do now offer a 30mm version, same size objective 24mm but a straight tube.
A little pricey, but well worth it.

I just bought a Leupold VX-R (illuminated reticle) for my 458 Lott. I really like it, but I haven't hunted with it yet. I hear (from Ken at Kebco) that lighter scopes are best on doubles for regulation.

Ed, instead of a scope go with a Aimpoint or a Trijicon red dot or holographic.

You can shoot with both eyes open.

You can also shoot with both eyes open on a trijicon 1x4x30.

Having used a red dot [vortex] sight just once on running game I can say that its very fast. The sight picture looks a bit different when compared to a scope and its not just the shooting with two eyes part as I use two eyes with a scope as well.

However it has its limitations like open sights.

That's because you are an old SOB. Ed truly look at those even with an eye shut the red dot is a big advantage over a scope.
Don't you shoot a shotgun with both eyes open?

Try the new Leupold VX-R. Just put one on my Lott. Great scope, 30mm tube, illuminated reticle, available in most common power ranges, great Leupold service, etc., best eye relief, and best part--under $500.00.

Actually, I just bought a 1x4 Burris TAC30 scope with their LRS lighted reticle. I hadn't bought a Burris in several years, but I really liked this one and put it on a 375. The reticle is circular, with a center dot and the smaller dots below and to the sides of the center.

I own two low power trijicons, and this scope is definitely faster to use. The true 1 power and circular reticle make it the fastest scope I have ever owned for sight acquisition. I had no trouble holding 1 MOA of the bench with the 375. Time will tell about the longevity. The price was laughable compared to Trijicon etc. Midway lists for $300.
