I've been practicing with a 500 NE Krieghoff DR and note that the barrels swing open just enough to clear the rims on loading, but not every time. Is there any simple modification anyone has made - that will not affect the reliability of the rifle - to allow a bit more clearance for the rims upon re-charging the chambers? Is the limited opening swing of the barrels an inherent result of the mechanism's design?

To my knowledge Krieghoff will do what you are looking for, give the factory a call, the same matter was discussed here previously, check the discussion titled Merkel vs Krieghoff,it's on this page about fifteen posts down. DRSS

I had the same problem with my .470 when I first started shooting it. Tha action was really tight. Now that I'm used to it, I no longer have the problem as long as I make sure it is open all the way.

I sent mine to the service center in PA for the same problem. It now opens slightly more and works fine.
