Drooling over it. Perfect weight for the 470.

Considering that it is a 2 barrel set, the 8X75RS (edited) is not too bad.

Be carefull - it is not a 8x57, it is a 8x75RS! Big difference!
The 8x57IRS is in the .308Win-class, while the long 8x75RS is in the .300Mag-class (with heavy bullets),You can surely get 2600fps with the heavy 220grs bullets and 2800fps with the 2oogrs bullets in the 8x75RS,but the components like cases are not cheap!

My 470 is right at 10lbs. I think it is perfect.

I shot Sam's Chapuis 470 and it did not fit me and it really hammered my cheek. Sore for a week!

I also shot his 500NE, a 577 NE and Corbin's 600 NE and none of them hurt me like the Chapuis.

The 600 NE was fun to shoot with light cast bullets and Full power 900 gr NE, which pushed me back half a step but did not hurt me!

As long as that rifle fit me correctly, I would not worry about the 9 lbs 10 oz weight.

My 416 Rigby CZ 550 Magnum with scope was just a bit over 9 lbs.

I was loading that with modern loads - 400 gr bullets at 2550 fps & 350 gr bullets at 2800 fps.

The recoil was at the upper limits for me & I dropped the charge by 2 grs IIRC - getting around 2450 fps & 2700 fps.

The 8x75 is a great round, similar to our 338. It was Herman Goering's favorite caliber, as I've read.
