cpaerEnglish rifle maker
Fellows:
I am trying to obtain a profile of an older English maker of SxS shotguns and rifles.
They sold their creations under the name of "Lawn & Alder".
I have tried some of the other web sites but no joy. I will be happy to follow up any clues you boys can provide me.
Thanks.

400 Nitro ExpressI thought I remembered seeing a listing for them somewhere, but no joy.
London firm. The guns come up from time to time. From what I can see in handling them, I believe this firm was probably a retailer of guns and rifles bought in from the trade. Most of the L & A rifles I've handled have been from Charles Osborne, Birmingham.
Wish I could help more.

"Serious rifles have two barrels, everything else just burns gunpowder."
Where I do not recall, but I read a "history" on the firm, a couple of long paragraphs, and they were a retailer as 400NE relates, again, as I recall. (Not that that is bad.)
I will try to figure out where I read of them.

cpaerLaddies:
For those chaps which may have had an interest in my quiry regarding Lawn & Alder, I beieve that I have put a cap on my question.
Lawn & Alder was a gun SHOP selling guns on it's own label but manufactured within the trade.
I believe that the double rifle I am dealing on was made by the firm of Chales Osborne, a Birmingham maker which had a large market in South Africa and India. The firm terminated its business in 1928 or 1930.
