but not in the H&H price range. Where would you start looking to to check out the market?

There's a section in Guns International under Double Rifles for "Bore or Gauge Rifles". There are few Manton, Greener, and Purdy rifles in there for $6K-$8K now.

Boy, I would think if Conn. Shotgun made up some decent priced paradox guns instead of the full rifled shotgun version, they would sell like crazy. Well, at least to some of us!

$10,000 would likely be the far upper end and I would prefer to stay well under that. I really am looking for general information for now as I don't know enough to start spending money yet.

I think you'll find one in the 6 - 8k range
as Biebs said.

Just depends on whether you want Nitro
or Black.

A mate has been after one for years and
eventually got it last year for under 10k.

Toplever Hammerless Nitro to boot !!!

I could see picking up a "ball and shot" gun for less than $10K but a true Paradox type gun with Fosbury rifled chokes in good shape will be quite a bit more.
In my short lived foray into Paradox land, I learned that you really do have to pay attention to bore and choke dimensions just as you would on a high grade shotgun and then the accuracy expectations of a big bore rifle come into play if you are really intending to use it for big game. Not an easy task to get them to shoot really well but must be an absolute joy when you get there.

They shoot Paradox's over here very accurately,
in fact, better than some DR's !!!

Admittedly, we have a very large core of
probably THE most knowledgeable people
in this country which helps.

My mate got his for under 10k so they
are out there.

In my book there is too much gap:
http://www.gunsinternational.c...ic=100298418-3-L.JPG

The Manton looks too worn as the barrels seems not to "face" the action tightly.
The Greener bite too seems worn. When I look at doubleguns in general I always look for the round edges. I want the edges to be sharp, tight before I commit any further braincells on a gun. Rounded edges + off face = NO buy!.

Agree re the Manton being off face.

I noticed that after I had posted.

I used to be like you but depending
on a range of factors including
how badly off the face and why,
I at least look at it.

Knowing know what I know about tightening
guns, I don't have as much of a problem
with it as before. It helps that we have
good gunsmiths who can tighten guns well
and the correct way.

I have to ask just why do you want a Paradox???

Then I will add, that I have shot a buddies Holland & Holland Paradox at 25, 50, and 100 yards, and it does indeed shoot as good as most any double rifle...

And the reason I ask "why" is you might be able to DO what you want/need to do with a Drilling, a lot easier, and less expensive, than with a Paradox type gun.

But then you just might want a Paradox... And I Perfectly under stand that "reason"...
And that is all the reason you need...

If you like to fiddle with guns they are a huge amount of fun. 15 years ago there just was no real dependable / pressure tested loads for them but mostly due to those wonderful ausies there is lots of safe published data.

The 12 bores do hammer deer!

I have a 12 gauge Tolley ubique that I just have never gotten around to loading for. If anybody has used one before I would love to hear from them.

If you own a gun and you are not a member of the NRA and other pro 2nd amendment organizations then YOU are part of the problem.

Why a paradox? I have not had one before and reading Cal's book moved it up my priority list of things to check out. That book has been a very expensive read. In a perfect (imaginary) world I would just ring up and buy the H&H nitro top lever hammer gun that is listed on gunsinternational.

The perfect person to have a Paradox built for you would be Bailey Bradshaw. The wait is what has kept me from getting one of his guns. I love his action and stock work. He could definitely build a Paradox that would be a killer.

I would stay away from the hammer H&H on gunsinternational. Grenadier and I have discussed this gun, and the load is very questionable. The H&H Royal Paradox on gunsinternational would be a great option; just lots of $$$$.

Do a search for Grenadier and check out his H&H round action Paradox. Now that's eye candy.

Grenadier who posts here on AR is definitely the fellow to contact concerning paradox guns. He also sells ammo for the paradox guns.
