Well the Gods were good to me at the Antique Arms Show in Las Vegas this weekend.

I picked up a really stunning miniature Westley Richards Best Quality Droplock ejector Double Rifle in 300 Sherwood. It weighs a mere 7 pounds and the action is half the size of my 28 bore droplock from the same era. Has all the bells and whistles, chopperlump barrels, full coverage engraving, top C bolting, original case with accessories, mint bores, great wood, even spare droplocks! Action is so petite its really a great piece and rare as hell, a true time capsule back to 1912. Apparently made for Bhupinder Singh of Patiala. Even shoots the LT bullets!

Sinner, you "done good"! Absolutely prestine!!

Where was that gun? I attended the show as well. Late set-up day (Thursday) closed the deal on a very nice Westley Richards .318 droplock. Thought I was "done" for the show. On Saturday my son was outside to pick me up for a drive to the airport. Struck a deal on a Holland @ Holland .500/.465 before I ran out the door.

Is double rifle rehab available? "My name is Don....Hi Don..."

Shit-Howdy that thing's a peach!

Congrats on this recent theft Sinner!!
It looks like it's seen a good bit of use, and equally good care.
What's the straight dope on the bores?

Cheers
Tinker

May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.

May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Sinner, an absolutely splendid find! Interesting the chopper lumps on a WR rifle. Reminds me of a certain WR .303 made 11 years earlier!

You are something of an authority on WR rifles. How rare do you think it is to find chopper lumps on a vintage WR?

I didn't make it to Las Vegas this year and now feel a bit of regret.

Congratulations!

Double Don, Sounds like you tore a wide path across the Riviera! Congrats to you too.

Thank you my friend, I was a bit stunned just how nice it was once I dug into it a bit. Its the smallest droplock action I have ever seen I can close my hand around the entire thing.

Thank you Roscoe,
I thought of you when I saw the barrels and your lovely 303 that we have chatted about often.

As we know the shoelump design was there common configuration for WR in this era, and the factory has no good reason why they flip flop from chopperlump on occasion. My guess is it depends on how nice the gun is going to be, and who ordered and may have requested certain extras. It was a pleasant surprise to say the least. I was also happy to see a single selective trigger in this calibre.

at a point where i am not overwhelmed with work i would love it if we could cooperate about getting a few measurements of that action, you know i love the mini's as well

i would like to see if i could make one of my A-classes in that size, just for the fun of it

SINNER,
Thanks, that would be great.
That little rifle is drop dead gorgeous!
I think I've just learned what the word "covet" means!
Would love to own a double of that quality and rarity. Out of my range however.
Great score, and thanks for giving us a look at this little gem!
