I was reloading some 500 grain North Forks for my Searcy. The brass Hornady cases loaded no problem with the cup pointed solids as usual. I loaded the flat pointed solids in some new never fired Federal nickel cases. The bullet did not crimp as well. They don't move in or out at all, but they are able to turn around. I have adjusted the die to the max in an effort to rectif this but they still spin a little. I tried sealing a few with clear nail polish and it stoped them from moving at all. i plan on trying them our in the next few days to see if they perform OK. ANY ADVICE APPRECIATED. Thanks in advance. NRA Life DRSS Searcy 470 NE The poster formerly known as Uglystick

I found Nickel cases in everything i have used them in (470 and I think 243 or 30.06) to be PITA. Previously 500N with many thousands of posts !

Honkey I found that I have to resize almost all of the new brass I buy to avoid this problem. Have you tried resizing a case to see if this problem still exists? I bought new Jamison brass for my .470, just cleaned up the case mouth and loaded 20 rounds. It wouldn't chamber so I had to pull the bullets and resize the new brass. might help, try one and see.

I always neck size any new unfired brass before loading it! .......................................................................... ....Mac >>>===(x)===> MacD37, ...and DUGABOY1 DRSS Charter member "If I die today, I've had a life well spent, for I've been to see the Elephant, and smelled the smoke of Africa!"~ME 1982 Hands of Old Elmer Keith

Rick and Mac beat me to the response. You need to resize new unfired brass to prevent this. I've experienced the exact same thing. Nickel or Brass made no difference.
