Never used a 470 so never had to clean one. So what do the 470 users recommend? A quick look did not show much available.

Cleaning? Seriously, I just use a .50/.54 bore snake and pull hard.

I use Kynoch brush and jag from Trader Kieths they are long and stout but you need a parker hale style rod.

Ken is "manning up" to a 470? I'm impressed! :-)

The stuff with a UK thread won't interchange with US threads and need to be kept separated. I bought some .600 stuff at Dallas or SCI a while back and then needed a new rod.

Why not just buy a .500 brush? They are soft enough that the approximately .025" won't make a difference. A mentioned above, a .50 caliber Bore Snake will work with some effort. However, I've discarded my BSs as they work fine for a bit of dust or powder residue, etc., but are worthless for lead and copper deposits. For the latter, nothing beats a rod, brush, and maybe a patch around the brush to pick up what the brush loosens. If the brush is stiff, I use a .450 brush and patch for .500, a .500 brush and patch for .600, etc.

I use Kleenbore pistol brushes etc marked .475 for a 475 Linebaugh/480 Ruger. Works fine.

I think Ken was asking on my behalf. I tried a .500 brush and pretty well got it stuck. Was hoping someone made .474 brush and jags. I have lots of rods, etc. I am going to get a .500 bore snake but would like to have the brush etc. as well. Will try a pistol brush if I can't find one made for a .470 NE rifle.

I use either .500 or the he .475 brushes etc. Both work good. With a short brass rod, patches and a good solvent nothing exotic...gets the job done.

I use 50cal brushes on occasion BUT most of the time I just use a kleenbore 450cal with two patches on and run some wipeout down the barrel to the patch and run the barrel vertically up and down the rod. Works well.
Also on the rare occasion I use a Parker hale take down brass rod with kynock 470 jag and brush.

Pistol Brush works. But life is so much easier with whipe-out and a jag.

There is also some nice stuff made for the 28 gauge shotgun, even a boresnake.

Find a brush that offers a bit of resistance and that is all you need. This is not rocket science, just a cleaning application and nothing more.

I like the jags, brushes, and Parker-Hale rods from Trader Kieths. They are extremely well made, strong, and are proper equipment for a double or big bore rifle.

Well the .50/.54 bore snake works great but I also ordered the brush and jag for more thorough cleanings but day to day the boresnake is awfully handy. I was just afraid it would be too big for the bore. I now have them for all my rifles.
