Butch is in the final stages of putting together a double rifle for me using his new round action design. He an I discussed some options and one of them is replacing the standard forend catch with a lever release design. He says it can be done for an upcharge of 500.00 per barrel. Would this enhance the looks and function of the new action or not be worth the cost or effort?????

This may reduce the length of the fore end to a more British style which I think looks good.

LB404,
I am guessing that you are getting a gun with more than one set of barrels. Well done.

just my opinion here, but...
I would go for it if i was having one built.

My order is for a rifle with the 450-400, 3" as well as another set in 375 Flanged Magnum. I hope I won't regret doing the two barrel set as I have had a Blazer switch barrel before and always seem to have had the wrong setup in place at the wrong time. I think that in Africa I will know pretty much ahead of time what game will be a foot. In any event, either barrel will work in most instances I have been around. The 375 may be a bit light for buffalo but should do yoeman service on most other game. The reason I chose the switch barrel double is that in Africa that makes up one registerable rifle. If you take a scope sighted 9.3 or 375 then you should have most things covered. I know that many will say I am over or under gunned. I just think it is as practical a package as one could ask for for African hunting. I am going to ask Butch for extra finish options available. I don't mean extra gee gaw just some good upgrade wood and the best metal fit he can produce. We will see how it goes!
