Mike:

The (former) Gun Library manager in KCMO is a good friend of mine and a great guy; I'm sure he knows all about this rifle. He probably acquired it. He is now out on his own but still in the gun trade.

I have considered selling all my rifles to get this one!

Was $48K reduced to $35K?!!! How much wiggle room do these guys have?
Excuse my ignorance but this seems like a rather large price drop.

A guy more knowledgeable than I said it is refurbished, but I don't care. It is a thing of beauty and have some pics of it in my new book that is coming out in a couple weeks. Hand detachable locks, etc.

Whoever did the refurb did an excellent job. God, I am in love with that rifle but alas ....

And the thing about the .476 WR NE is that it shoots a 520 gr. bullet, and all that implies. That is too cool for school. The one round that Taylor admits that he never shot.

And a single trigger Westley Richard double. Could life be any sweeter?

Will,
me thinks my old 500 with single trigger would make our lives a bit sweeter...but this one would suffice for sure. I'm betting that WR performed the makeover.

Any of you been to the Boise Cabela's or read Elmer Keith's book "Safari"? Cabela's has one of his Best Grade WR's there, and it is shown in his book. Page 95 shows his "Matched Pair". His collection, just the ones shown in the book is about two and a half million 2010 dollars.

One of the greatest days of my life was sitting in his living room surrounded by all these double rifles.

It just goes to show you how subjective the pricing of a second hand double can be. Wink

Start WAY too high and work down, can't go in the other direction.

My guess is that it will sell well under 30K

A WR droplock ejector in .476 will likely never see the light of the 20,000s. That is as long as it's in good shape and not mucked with. I wish it had 2 triggers and some scroll engraving. Oh well.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Speaking of Westley Richards .500 NE's, this one has me seriously in love. If someone would like to loan me $65K to be repaid when I win the lotto, let me know.

The WR stock was pretty short and the barrel blacking was thin in some spots but the droplock was a very nice rifle.

stand by the mailbox, the mailman came by a few minutes ago and I put a personal check for $66K out to you. The extra grand is for some ammunition.

Thanks Mike, that would be great.

Rich, I went ahead and called George and told him to put the rifle aside for me since the "check is in the mail" so to speak. I will let you know when the check arrives . . . and more importantly, clears.
