I was at the range again on Monday with my .470. I had previously tried a load of 88 grains of Reloder 15, four grains of Dacron, and a 500 grain Woodleigh. That load was running about 2047 fps in my S2. I backed it down to 87 grains of Reloder 15 and switched to a Kynoch wad. PERFECT! Jeez, does this thing shoot!

Dave, was never a Dacron man. Those Kynoch wads are a couple of bucks, but my 470 was a shootin' machine with 89 gr of RL15 and a wad with 500 gr Woodies. I also had some packing foam laying about and cut it with the butt end of a golf club shaft.....same result...awesome.

No dacron for me.

Dave...470? The Blaser? Aren't you a bit apprehensive about using that, even at the range? I'd be worried that by the time you got the safety off, the Rangemaster would already be calling "Cease Fire" !!!!!!

Dave

Very happy for you.

FYI, my Heym .470 likes 85 gr. RL 15 with Woodleigh 500 gr. SP.

The Verney-Carrons at Kebco were much nicer than I expected...very well-made rifles. I told Ken that he needs to work on his photography skills...the rifles look rather plain in his ads, but very nice indeed in person....nice wood, good fit and finish, weights matched to caliber, etc.
