Hi guys, I'm interested in a double. With my budget, it seems to boil down to either the Merkel or Chapuis. I have handled a Merkel 141.1 with a straight stock and a cheek piece, and it fit me very well. How does the Chapuis fit compared to it? Since the Merkel fit me, will the Chapuis fit also? Are most current doubles consistent about dimensions, or do they vary from rifle to rifle in the same model? (Do most Chapuis fit the same?) Thanks, Richard It's all in the reflexes.

Monseur LePew, I will provide the standard stock dimensions from a straight-combed-cheek-pieced Merkel 140-2.0 (140A). LOP to front trigger: 14.5" Drop at nose of comb: 1.5" (38mm) Drop at heel of comb/butt: 2-9/16" (65mm) Cast off at mid comb: 5/32" (4mm) Cast off at toe of butt: 1/4" (6mm) Pitch: 2-3/4" to 3-1/8" (70mm to 80mm) Maybe someone else will supply measurements from the Chapuis for comparison ... or tell you where you can find one to try, like you tried the Merkel.
