AkshooterMy 8x57jrs Merkel double has performed well for me and taken many boar, fox deer, caribou and black bear. this caliber makes for a nice light weight double rifle. I have never weighed mine but I'm sure it's under 9 pounds with scope attached.
Good luck on the range and I hope you come home with it.

bigdoggy700Congratulations on the new gun. There is nothing quite like the satisfaction after the waiting. You know that is of course a quite serious disease. Symptons will start as follows, lieing to your wife or at least some stoy telling as to where the $$ is going, spending more time on this site at nite, constantly thinking of what to sell to start up another double project. And rat holing $$$ to go to DRSS shoots. CAUTION YOU ARE NOW HOOKED, and the urges only get stronger and much more frequent over time!!

Jimbo#1Thanks guys!!!

So now I´ve entered the world of doubles!!
It´s a beauty!! Big Five stock in Grade 002 with all moving parts in the action nickel plated. Action itself is black.
Singel tringer action for fast second shot!
I have to wait another week or so for the smith to top it up with a Schmidt & Bender Flashdot scope!
Then I´m ready for action!!
My digital camera broke down so you have to wait a little while longer for pics!!
It´s worth the wait!!

Jimbo#1Finally!!
Here is some pictures of my Krieghoff Classic.
Quality is bad cause I had to use my cellphone camera!

I´ll post better ones when I get my digital camera.
Right now it is at the shop for mounting og my scope. A 1,25-4x20 S&B with illuminated reticle.
I´ll have it back some time next week and then there will be some serious shooting!

EDIT: OOPS!! Made a mistake when posting pics!!

tomo577JIMBO - YOU LUCKED OUT !
usually any mention of a single trigger on a double rifle brings the skeptics out of the woodwork and out from under their logs.
a good single trigger will work just fine when you need to shoot two boars on the run or a pair of moose.
so when do we get an invitation to bring our double rifles and join you hunting ??

Jimbo#1Thanks!!

Well I believe it´s safe and sound to have some critisism but many times it´s just critisism for the sake of argument! Creating problems for non problematic issues!!

If I was hunting a lot of Dugga Boys down in Africa I too, would have a double trigger but for the not so dangerous Scandinavian beasts a single trigger works just fine. And Krieghoff guarantee they work up to .375 cal!!
The only real downside is that I can´t use it as a Cape Gun or a Bergstützen since I can´t choose which barrel to shot! Or heavier calibers than .375.
But this is a small problem and it can be solved by having Krieghof change the trigger to double trigger. And of course 1500USD!!!!

If I had bought it new I would probably have ordered it with double triggers but since it came this way, I see no need to alter it!!
About the invitations!! That´s a nice thought!! A DRSS meet in Sweden!!
But!! I´m in the middle of moving house from Norway and back to my native Sweden!! But when I´ve settled in and have found some more hunting grounds!!
Why not!!
I´ll be back!!

MacD37Jimbo1, I agree with you on the single trigger on a rifle such as your's. I have double rifles with single triggers, but, again, like you they are small chamberings, for things like deer, caribou, moose, and black bear!
Anyone here can tell you I'm not a fan of single triggers, or O/U double rifles, that will be used on dangerous game animals. That to me simply makes sense! Like you said, if you were going to use the rifle for shooting things like Cape Buffalo, down in Africa, then the double trigger would certainly be called for, but not in the platform, and use you plan to put you 8mm to! Mount a QD scope on that little 8mm double, and it will make a nice plains game rifle to take along with your big rifle in Africa as well!

Again, congratulations, and good hunting!
