You might want to post this in the Classifieds as well. Pictures are always a big help too, at least to the curious window shoppers! ------------------------------- Some Pictures from Namibia Some Pictures from Zimbabwe An Elephant Story

On a gun like this, photos are essential.
I assume you mean that the checkering was merely cleaned up and the cuts sharpened but not pointed up (I assume you know that the original checkering wasn't pointed up when new - the British don't do it that way), or did an American smith actually point it up? ---------------------------------------------- "Serious rifles have two barrels, everything else just burns gunpowder."

Yes. We see more than a few here. Americans tend to think that the checkering on British guns is worn because the diamonds are flat, but the Brits left them flat to begin with. Easy way to tell when they've been redone in the US. ---------------------------------------------- "Serious rifles have two barrels, everything else just burns gunpowder."

Yes, that is how I also tell if someone is BS'ing or doesn't know what they are talking about. I've also seen flat top turned into diamond point where it's been too worn to make the flat top look good when refinished.
