Selling one of my treasures, just don't have the time for it. Chasing birds has become a priority. Anyway, here are the specs

-Alexander Henry 500 3" BPE
-Jones rotary underlever
-Double triggers, double hammers
-Trap grip cap
-stock has been professionally refinished, with the checkering re-cut and pointed
-Beautiful damascus bbls, 90% condition
-can send pics if interested
-asking $9000, or best offer

I assume you mean that the checkering was merely cleaned up and the cuts sharpened but not pointed up (I assume you know that the original checkering wasn't pointed up when new - the British don't do it that way), or did an American smith actually point it up?

You mean it should be Flat top chequering.

Have seen a few recut from flat top to Diamond Point.


Nice gun BTW.

Yes. We see more than a few here. Americans tend to think that the checkering on British guns is worn because the diamonds are flat, but the Brits left them flat to begin with. Easy way to tell when they've been redone in the US.

Yes, that is how I also tell if someone is BS'ing or doesn't know what they are talking about.

I've also seen flat top turned into diamond point where it's been too worn to make the flat top look good when refinished.
