I am looking for a 375 H&H double, pref with ejectors, maybe a used one. Any stock. If is has a detachable scope mount & scope, even better. Any ideas for me where to enquire for used? New?

Depends on your budget.

But there are several current factory doubles being built in .375H&H.

Merkal, Chapuis, Blaser and Kreighoff to name a few.

You can also have Butch Searcy build you one to fit.

I'm not sure that Butch would build you a gun in a H&H he'd probably try and talk you into a rimmed case as would I.

But there are plenty of doubles out there in .375H&H.

I find that .375 tempting as an elk/PG rifle, but the funds could also be used for trophy fees... Smiler

Personally, I would NOT buy a 375H&H double...too much pressure for a double. You will be MUCH better off with a rimmed case rifle such as the 375 Flanged or the 9.3x74R, ejectors grab much more of the case for good flawless extraction and they are in the right pressure range for a double...leave the 375H&H in bolt guns...a super cartirdge and I have several. I just sold a beautiful 375Flanged, a great little Evans BLE that had taken two big five's and several more Buff and Lion...took me 5 years to find it...and be careful NOT to buy a 375 21/2" rebored and even reproofed to Falnged Mag...too much for the smaller actions....Keep looking, you will find one.

Clarification, I think this was a lefty.

470 Eddy is right about the 375 H&H in a double. I will say that the 416 Rigby doesn't concern me in a double, much lower pressure. They both are rimless rounds made for bolt guns so that's an issue.

What's your budget?

Chapuis says they will be producing a 375 H&H Flanged this year as a standard production rifle.

I am not so sure I agree on the 416 either?? Yes a bit lower pressure, but think about dangerous game charging and the very little fragment of steel doing the extraction on a rimless cartridge vs a rimmed case. My vote is with ONLY rimmed cases in doubles...for safety sake in extration in a dicey situation...there is another full post on what if's in the Africa section on bolts vs doubles...
Call JJ at Champlin if you want to talk about 416 Ok in Merkels...they often lock up tight due to pressure... Rigby is known only to build one double in 416, maybe two??

Yama:

I agree with these guys entirely. It doesn't make sense to buy a double rifle (expensive) and compromise it for the sake of convenience. You won't ever find double rifle ammunition at Wally World. If that kind of convenience is important to you (not a bad thing at all), stick with a bolt rifle.

In this power range there are two fine choices - .375 Flanged Magnum and 9.3X74R.

The .375 Flanged Magnum is the .375 H & H that was intended for doubles. It offers very slightly superior performance in comparison to the 9.3, and slightly lower chamber pressure. Availability of factory ammo is limited. New brass for handloading is available, but you'll probably have to order and wait for it a bit. This doesn't have to be a problem if you handload. If you prefer the .375, just buy several hundred rounds of brass when you buy the rifle, and you're ready to rock 'n roll indefinitely.

The 9.3X74R is so close to the .375 Flanged Magnum that the difference doesn't really matter. Much wider selection of rifles. Availability of factory ammunition and loading components is better than that of any other flanged double rifle cartridge. Even Hornady is making the brass now, and will soon offer ammunition.

The 9.3X74R would be my preferance over the 375H&H.For all the above reasons.
