Have examined earlier threads on this subject, but seek any updates on reloading data for the 375 flanged and for any of the 450 Nitro doubles. Would seem that in .375 flanged doubles, both 275 gr NonCon and 300 gr. BBW#13 Solid can use the same charge of some powders e.g., Alliant Reloader 22. Is anyone using IMR 4350? Regards, Tim

I have always thought (and practiced) to load a solid with a few grains less than the softs. I don't know what a CEB BBW is, but I would think any solid will generate slightly higher pressures than a lead core soft. I know many with use RL powders and also 4350 but I only use IMR 4831 as it has preformed well over the past 25 years and I have a bunch of it to shoot up. RL 15 will produce less recoil than the same velocity attained with 4831. Thanks for the quick reply, Cal. I, too, use IMR 4831 and found it especially good with my 500/450 (99 grains for the Woodleigh 480 gr SP and 97 grains for the Woodleigh solid). The BBW#13 from Cutting Edge Bullets is subject of a major thread on this Board. It's a monometal in both hollow point and solid that has a flat meplat. It keeps pressures down by using a number of driving bands that take the rifling rather than a long flat surface as do the Woodleighs or the Swift A-frames with which I am most familiar. Understand the point about RL powders. Butch Searcy, who is working on my prototype rising bite double, uses RL-15 for the 270 grain TSX he regulates the 375 flanged with. But, I do not want to use a filler regardless of lessened recoil, preferring higher loading density that IMR4350 and IMR4831 give. Hopefully CCDOC will chime in as he has done some work with the BBW#13 and Alliant 22, a very slow powder. Regards, Tim

Really Cal! With all the work that Michael and myself have posted on this forum and you don't know what a CEB BBW#13 is. Tim, The #13s which is now called a Safari solid and expanding non con is now called a Safari Raptor you can use any load that works with a cup and core bullet as the #13s will give less pressure than a cup and core bullet because of its low bearing surface. You will probably have to add several grains with the CEBs to get full velocity because pressures will be lower. I have not done any loading for the 375 Flanged so I can't help there. The 450NE I think there are several people here loading the CEBs with great results. Seems like 98 grs of IMR4831 is what most are using in the 450s. I used 83 grs of RL-15 in the 450s I worked with.

Sam, I have seen the same thing in the 470. I am loading 2-3 grains more of Reloder 15 to achieve proper velocity and regulation. Not everybody remembers Bastard Bullet Works.

I had excellent results with the Raptors with 100gr of H-4831 which is what I use for my Woodleighs. USN (ret) DRSS Verney-Carron 450NE Cogswell & Harrison 375 Fl NE Sabatti Big Five 375 FL Magnum NE DSC Life Member NRA Life Member

I could never get the CEB's to regulate in my 375 flanged. But I can dig up load info for you on where I left off. Mac

Thanks, Mac, would appreciate it. You can PM me if you prefer not to publicize your last load. Regards, Tim

sorry to leave you hanging. I forgot. PM me next time. Ok I left off with 76.0 grains of RL 17 @ 2569 fps average with a 300 BBW#13. Groups were still 5" apart. Good individual barrel groups though. Settled on a 300 aframe or tsx with 72.0 RL 17 at 2480 fps. on the aflame it is a consistent 3/4" group with 4 shots at 50 yards. 300 NFS @ 77.0 grains of RL17 got just under 2 inch groups at 2597 FPS. Never went much further as figured plenty good enough to send up the backside of a southbound buff. This was on a small frame heym double. Probably about 7 - 8 years old. Mac

Thanks, Mac. Believe I'll have the rifle regulated to the 300 gr A-Frame at 2400 fps or a little better and work up other bullets around that. Regards, Tim
