PeterFuneral Grade? Does that mean it is buried with you when you die?
Peter.
Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong;

meteFor my tastes it's fine !! I once saw a matched pair of Browning High Powers with that type of gold line work .If I was a collector I would have immediately grabbed them.

tendramsMan, that is nice. I would take it as is but with case hardening on the receiver and forearm release only.

MacD37I guess you learn something new every day, as long as you live, but that is a new one on me at 77 years of age! That is a designation that I have never heard before after over 70 years of owning guns!

KebcoFrom the Hallowell web site
Funeral Grade - A colloquial term to describe a break-open gun, of any quality but often of the very highest, bearing the least possible decoration; having an all-blued receiver with either no engraving at all or only a simple borderline.

Well, my Heym PH might have a nitrite-finished receiver but, compared with your rifle, its decoration is high-grade pine box.
