A friend has a small lot of old ammunition including Kynoch 450/400 3 1/4" Nitro-express, Kynoch .275 Magnum rimless N-E, Eley 400/360 2 3/4" N-E and Westley Richards 318 A-E in clean 5 and 10 round boxes plus nearly 50 rounds of old, never loaded, Kynoch 450 N-E brass, he asked me to look and decide what I was interested in and make him an offer. Anyone have an idea what this stuff is worth?

EH

You can look up vintage ammo prices on the Lewis Drake website, prices there are usually top dollar but give an idea, often single rounds go for more than rounds in full boxes for e.g a round that may sell for $12 as a single may often cost $100 for a box of 10, not sure why but it happens.

Don't forget that there should be date codes on the boxes. I would not trust it save to perhaps see what it does over a chronograph if it's very old.

Dig often picks up ammo like that at auction for clients in the states. Due to the relatively low interest in big bores over here the ammo doesn't really cost all that much.

Take a look Herefor the guide prices on these lots, some of which are like what you have posted. there is also about 25% premium on top of the hammer price to be paid.

I have 6 boxes of 450-400-3 1/4" Kynoch. The old stuff in the red and yellow boxes soft nose and solids. I don't see any date but there is a mark 14-H-B, perhaps thats the date code that Rusty refers to...

I have had this stuff for more years than you can imagine so I know its old..boxes are in very good condition as is the ammo..

I would take $300 for all of it and toss in a clean crisp empty 404 box of the same except its marked 9NM/S if anyone wants them. They have been on my desk for the last 20 years at least.
