Shot my Merkel 470 today to compare loads and got the following;
Bell brass fed 215 primer & 108 gr H4831 with 500 gr woodleigh = 2091 FPS average 4 shots
Bell brass fed 215, 89gr RX15 with same bullet averaged 2206 for 4 shots
Federal factory 500gr Woodleigh - 2229 fps

The H4831 with lowest velocity had most recoil.

Norma brass & 500 gr cast with gas check and 44 gr of 5744 = 1504 fps, horizontal impact is OK but vertical is low.

The H4831 regulated great, that is what I was going to use in Africa in August. Just shot the RX 15 from sticks, will go next weekend and shoot target @ 100 yards. I can't really do the gun justice @ 100 yards. Age is catching up with me.
Good days, H4831 I can do 4 to 5" groups @ 100. The RX 15 seemed to be the same point of impact from sticks. Will get serious next outing.
