I just tried one of my newer style Valmet 412 scope mounts on the Baikal, and it works great if I shim out the tightening screw knob, so it clears the barrel.

If you can find one of these all you need to do is have the knob turned down to clear...

Just visit Pymarid air and buy one of their scope mounts complete with rings for an air rifle. Clamps onto the rail. About $25 with shipping and does not shift under heavy recoil.
Hell of a lot cheaper than a Valmet mount.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

I have those, but the Valmet mount is tough, and it is a repeatable QD mount.

Besides, I have an extra. Wink

Another good way is to use these bases on the rail and Leupold QD rings.

These are ones for an air rifle. Wink

Maybe so. These are $600.00 rifles, not $10,000.00 guns.

By the way, I saw you recommended the Sabatti 450-400 for a first DR. They are expensive problems, more so in the less expensive 9,3X74R guns, but the big ones have caused a lot of fits.

Here is how this terribly-stocked rifle regulated today. The right shots were second to last correction, and the left ones in the black were the final.

This is with no scope at 50 yds with factory WW 300gr HP ammo.

Nice looking rifle Bruce, and shoots good too. The scope looks good on it especially with the QR mounts. It should be a great Whitetail deer rifle in the woods.

Dpcd is right about the crappy stocks they come with, that is why I am building a new one for mine, a good shooting rifle deserves a nicer stock.

The stocks aren't their strong point. hilbily

Thing is, this gun fits me well with this stock. Since it will be my knock-about gun when picking huckleberries up in the Yaak and sharing them with grizzlies, I'll leave things as they are.

If your berry picking will be in July, then you REALLY need to bring that rig to my shoot (07-14-13). Let me know!
