chopper barrels

we are thinking about manufacturing best quality chopper lump rifle barrels. we could put them together, digitize the lumps on your existing barrels and cut the lumps on the new barrels with our wire edm machine so that a minimum amount of fitting is required. i am in the process of doing this on my webley 500 3in. the right barrel burst about 4 inches back from the muzzle using westley richards ammo with woodleigh bullets. it was prohibitive to have the rifle rebarreled in england and very difficult to get the new chopper tubes so we could do it here. this would make caliber changes or new barrels much easier. any interest? bruce bowen www.bbguns.net

I think there would be a lot of intrest.
A lot of guys might like to have a set of smaller bbls fitted to their 40cal and up doubles.

From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.

If you could make alloy barrels for big doubles
so we could put 12GA FH, 577NE,600NE,
700NE, etc on 10ga Zabala, etc
frames there would be a market. If you could make long alloy 12ga rifled barrels with pivot
for NEF Ultra slug guns another market.Ed

i don't know what the cost will be. it is too early in the project. keep in mind that i am not going to offer complete chopper barrels but rather a pair of choppers that are soldered together and the lumps cut to close fit for an existing action. i do not want to get into regulation, ribs and sights, etc. keep in mind as well that new barrels in england or europe at over $20,000 which is more that many rifles are worth. if i were to make a guess i would say in the $5000 range. you would then have to have someone do the rest of the work.

thanks for your interest. bruce bowen
