I am working up loads for my new (scoped) Chapuis UGEX in 9.3x74R. I see that some of you use the Woodleigh 285 soft and solids, and that there are discussions ab the suitability of the 9.3 as a buff calibre. Has any of you tried flat or cup pointed bullets in your 9.3?

I took some 9.3 x 74 R NF flats to Zim this May but did not have the opportunity to use them. They flew to the same point of aim as did my Partitions and soft and solid Woodleighs.

You will like your scoped French 9.3.

For what its worth, I have dies for the 9.3x74r but I have not gotten around to loading for it yet. I have used the factory Norma 285gr with the "Alaska" bullet with excellent results on everything including buffalo in Africa. I am using a Merkel 160 and it shoots to the same point with both barrels. When I do get around to loading I will try to duplicate the factory Norma loading.

Buy the cup point for your primary and the solids for backup.

The cup points are te best in the "big bores".

Hey Jim, will the cup points damage barrel regulation? I have read some horror stories ab double rifels that come apart form shooting solids or monometals

J.A.N., you don't have to worry about the North Fork solids. Because of the design, the rifleing only has to engrave very little pure copper, and is easier on your double rifle barrels, than a standard lead core jacketed soild! The NF solids are the only mono-metal solids that are safe in a nitro proofed double rifle of any make, or age. The GS custom is safe, I'm told, and that is most likely true, but I simply don't have any first hand experience with them, but their design is almost identicle to the North Fork. beer
