This was once upon a time my gun. I had it rechambered to .450 3 1/4" nitro. I added the Zeiss in QD mounts. Took it to Africa and killed an elephant. Sold it through George. Netted more than the his current asking price. It's a bargain!! Deo Vindice, Don Sons of Confederate Veterans Black Horse Camp #780

What caliber was it to start with? Cancel that; I see it was a 458 Win Mag.

That change is what should happen to all 458Win Mag double rifles! ............................................................................. ....Mac >>>===(x)===> MacD37, ...and DUGABOY1 DRSS Charter member "If I die today, I've had a life well spent, for I've been to see the Elephant, and smelled the smoke of Africa!"~ME 1982 Hands of Old Elmer Keith

Like others, built in the day when the 458 Win Mag was the only big bore African caliber available. We should count our blessings now, although there's certainly no flies on the current 458 WM in a bolt rifle.

I agree; any belted mag in a DR; yuck. (Maybe a 375) I remember back in the late 50s and 60s when no Nitro ammo was available and rifles for them were relatively cheap.
